DDTC Meeting to elect committee officers was on Monday April 8 @ 7:00 PM in the Gordon Room at the Library.

After 25 years as Chair for the DanversDems, Marilyn Hazel has decided to take a different role and transition to new leadership. Marilyn has worked tirelessly and with great passion for women’s rights, voting rights, healthcare and all democratic values. Marilyn received a vigorous applause from the well attended meeting.

The following slate of officers were nominated and approved by the committee as required by statute every 4 years..

Co-chairs: Lou Bernazzani and Marilyn Hazel

Vice-chair: Tom Meager

Treasurer: Kasey Desmond

Secretary: Julie Curtis

Affirmative Action Outreach: Liz Brennan

Due to the requirement that there must be both a male and female in executive positions, we introducing co-chairs as is allowed but not required in our charter.

Newcomers to the leadership team are Lou Bernazzani as co-chair and Liz Brennan as Affirmative Action Outreach joining Tom, Kacey and Julie. We think this team is a wonderful mix of people with experience and some new energy.  It will bring help in the area of technologically advancing our out-reach. We will have a new look and approach  to advance our commitment to our democratic values.

We had three speakers address the committee:

Micheal Shannon, candidate for School Committee

Joe Gentleman, candidate for Registry of Deeds

Dutrochet “Dee” Djoko: candidate for Select Board

There was a lively discussion on local issues.

As a result of the discussion, we were not able to specifically address the two topics scheduled for this meeting.

1. Promote the engagement among the current DDTC members: A survey has been assembled and will be send out to gather some data assist us going forward. Results will be discussed at the My meeting.

2. Expand the DDTC membership to younger people: This will be discussed at the May meeting. Lou George volunteered to lead this discussion.
