Agnes Ricko passed away 10/31/2024

Agnes Ricko, from Lynn, passed away peaceably at the age of 87 surrounded by family and friends on October 31. Agnes was one of the great local leaders of the Democrat Party. Many, such as myself, who have only recently become involved in the party may not know the impact that Agnes had. I will share a note from DanversDem Tom Meagher who knew her well.

Agnes took me under her wing in Lynn during the Dukakis years back in the 1980’s, and we have toiled together on local, state, & national campaigns ever since. Every knowledgeable MA politician seeking statewide or national office has known for decades that the pathway to election goes through Lynn, and Agnes has always been the Democratic Party’s St Peter vetting candidates at the gate (and holding elected officials accountable.) Small in stature, she has always commanded respect, and her passion, dedication to democratic values and tireless energy was legendary. And oh yes Sally, the stories she could tell- I will personally miss Agnes terribly, and the Democratic Party has lost a great leader.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8 at the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Lynn at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectively invited. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 7 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Agnes memorial may be made to the Lynn Museum and Historical Society at www.lynnmuseum.org/donate, My Brother’s Tale at www.my brotherstable.org/donate or a charity of your choice.

DanversDems Stand Out on Nov. 2

DanversDems showed a powerful display of enthusiasm on the final weekend before Election Day rallying together for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and our Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.

We had a great turnout (even better than last weeks) covering all four corners with a crowd of energized passionate flag waving Democrats!

The town responded with a steady stream of waves, thumbs up and beep beeps.

Thanks to everyone who joined us.

WE ARE NOT GOING BACK!

DanversDems StandOut October 26

DanversDems held a standout on October 26 in Danvers Square.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the StandOut for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz and all our state and local Democrats. It was a great show of support. We covered three corners of the square. There were many familiar faces and also quite a few new faces joining us. Our own Rep Sally Kerans joined us early before grading to the airport for her flight to Philadelphia to participate in a Harris/Walz election event. Essex County Clerk of Courts Tom Driscoll spent the entire morning with us. Candidates Eileen Duff and Eunice Zeigler provide signs for their campaigns.

Many many people passing thru the square greeted us with a wave, thumbs up or a beep beep to show their appreciation and support for the work that we are do. Of course, there were a few not so enthusiastic for the work we do including one MAGA young man who only proved the point that Donald Trump should never get near the White House again.

The committee voted to do this again next Saturday so look for information for this to be forthcoming.

Thanks everyone.  Hope to see you on again.

Three people expressed interest in participating in the Salem News article on the upcoming election.  They are looking to talk to average Democrat and Republican voters to see what issues are driving them to the polls.  If anyone else is interested please contact me.  Information concerning this article is on slide 10 of the October Meeting Presentation Slides.
